Tom Sachs Sharpie 2009
One day, I will own something of his…one day.

I mean no offense, Alexsis, but, go to Wal-Mart, pick up a pack of sharpies, a few sheets of copy paper stolen from the office, and then take your digital camera and make this. Ever since Warhol, I haven’t understood what makes a photo or painting of an everyday object, art. If I started setting up an infinity table and put my shoes on it and photographed it, would it sell for thousands or millions of dollars? Probably not. I don’t know. At this point I’m rambling and jealous.

lol!
i agree.

Denounciation of any forms of art shows a mind not open to the idea of art itself.
I’d like to know more about this artist and his thought process.

I’m actually looking him up right now because I’m curious about what this is to him.
In the least sarcastic way possible.

The idea that anything can be art came from a backlash against the original idea that something is only art when an élite body says so. IT was just an old idea - a cute idea - but it’s done now. It’s over. Taking credit for doing nothing isn’t making a statement about the art community anymore, like it was decades, or even centuries ago. Now it’s just bullshit. This is not art, and pretending that it is diminishes actual art, not the other way around.
